How the Grinch Stole Christmas

While there are differences in the film adaptation, much of the story remains the same. The tale revolves around the fictional town of Whoville, whose residents enjoy Christmas very much – except for the Grinch, a green character who hates the holiday.

In the movie, he is given a tragic backstory. The Grinch was a baby adopted by two sisters who teach him about the joys of Christmas. But because he was humiliated in class in front of the girl he likes, he swears off the holiday and decided to live top of Mount Crumpit, north of Whoville.

Years later, he plots to ruin the Whos Christmas by stealing their trees, gifts, and food. In the end though, the Grinch realizes the true meaning of the holiday, and decides to join the townspeople in celebration.
